There are lots of workshops at Moonlighter, from our Basics Series that teaches you the foundations of how to use the advanced manufacturing equipment at the Makerspace – to project-based classes that lead you step by step in building a particular object.

Intro to Wax Carving
Wax carving is an amazing process that gives the artist the ability to create jewelry and small sculptures that would normally be very difficult to create directly in metal. Then through the casting process, they are able to turn their projects into metal.
In this class you will learn the basic to advanced wax carving techniques needed to create most forms. We will cover how to layout a project, carve, saw, drill, melt and overall shape the wax into interesting forms. Students will work on technical sample projects as well as have time for a final project.
- 6-Hour Workshop
- 11am-6pm – With a break for lunch from 2-3pm (Lunch not included.)
- All Standard Materials Included – Optional Special Materials Available for a fee.

Fabricación y Soldadura – Curso de 3 Dias en Español
Clases son los Viernes, Sábados y Domingos. Este taller de 3 días te guiará a través de todo el proceso de creación de joyas personalizadas!
Aprende a manipular y dar forma a los metales, cortando, doblando y soldando.
El estudiante obtendrá la confianza dentro del taller de joyería, familiarizándose con el medio a través del uso de sus herramientas, antorcha, máquina de eje flexible, pulidora, y más. Por medio de demostraciones en clase y de la instrucción individualizada, el estudiante aprenderá técnicas de montaje, perforación, lijado, engarzado, y pulido.
Ningún conocimiento previo es requisito para atender este taller, y aquellos estudiantes que cuenten con experiencia previa también podrán beneficiarse significativamente del taller.
Para perfeccionar las aptitudes adquiridas en el taller, altamente recomendamos atender los Talleres de Fabricación y Soldadura Permanentes.
- Taller de 3 días (18 horas)
- Viernes, sábado y domingo, de 11:00 a 18:00
- (Una hora de descanso para almorzar, de 14:00 a 15:00; almuerzo no incluido)
- Todos los materiales estándar incluidos. Metales preciosos opcionales disponibles con costo adicional.

3-Day Jewelry Fabrication & Soldering Workshop
Learn to manipulate and shape metal by sawing, cutting, bending, and soldering. Students will gain confidence in the jewelry studio environment and become familiar with the jewelers’ hand tools, torch, flex shaft, polishing motor, and more. Through individual instruction and class demos, students will learn about layout, piercing, filing, forming, soldering, stone setting, and finishing. Students will complete 3 main skill building projects, the final being a stone setting project of your own design!

Ring Making Workshop
Want to know what making jewelry is about, but have no jewelry making experience? This easy and fun “Crash Course” will take you through the full process of making a ring in just 3 hours. Leave the studio wearing your own simple ring creation and get hooked to come back and make more complex pieces!

Wire Working Workshop
In this class you will learn the basics for beading and working with wire through various techniques. We will cover how to crimp or add finishing touches to beaded necklaces, how to wire link beads and fabricate your own findings (like clasps and ear wires, earrings and chains.) We will also cover how to make rings with wire and to work in a production style to complete projects quickly.

Our Monthly BASICS series is designed to teach you how to use the design software, machine controls, and various materials to create your own custom pieces with this digital fabrication technology. At the end of the session, you get to take home your creation!
